Hist/Bio Note

The First Church of One Brotherhood was established in 1956 by Charles (Chuck) D. Rowland, a co-founder of the Mattachine Society and a member of ONE, Inc. The non-denominational church was intended to address the spiritual needs of religious gay men; its literature also outlined an early, ambitious program of social services for the gay and lesbian community.
