Hist/Bio Note

Sacred Worth is a student organization that serves the Duke University Divinity School by increasing awareness of LGBTQI (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer/questioning, and intersex) people in the church. The group was founded in the early 2000s and takes its name from the Book of Discipline of the United Methodist Church of 2000, which states "Homosexual persons no less than heterosexual persons are individuals of sacred worth." Sacred Worth, sometimes also referred to as SW, is open to all members of the community and seeks to promote understanding of and offer support to LGBTQI people and straight allies through sponsoring discussions, lectures, and other events.
