Description

This collection contains clippings, brochures, administrative records, theater programs, notes, and a poem, circa 1954-1975, from Reverend F. Kenneth Barta, former member of the Southern California Council on Religion and the Homophile (SCCRH). The collection includes administrative records from SCCRH, and subject files on homosexuality, censorship, religion, and legal issues. In particular it includes SCCRH administrative records and correspondence records from 1966-1975 and Glide and Council on Religion and the Homosexual (CRH) 1964-1966.

Hist/Bio Note

F. Kenneth Barta was born on April 5, 1924 in the U.S. Virgin Islands. He worked as a rector in Episcopal churches in the Virgin Islands, Florida, and California; and as a chaplain for Veterans Affairs hospitals in California. In the 1960s, he was a member of Southern California Council on Religion and the Homophile and ONE Incorporated. Barta died on August 4, 2012.
