Born Ann Galland. Overcame domestic abuse and alcoholism before beginning scholarly research into feminine spirituality. Founder of Women in the Wilderness, a group that encourages women to participate in outdoor adventures, and Images of Divinity Research Project, an ongoing enterprise that explores world-wide concepts of female spirituality. Galland has written seven books, including: Women in the wilderness, The bond between women, and Images of the Black Madonna
