The collection documents the trial preparation, aftermath and press coverage surrounding the arrest of six individuals at the Council on Religion and the Homosexual's Mardi Gras Ball held on Jan. 1, 1965, at California Hall in San Francisco.

Hist/Bio Note

The lawyer Evander Smith was retained by the Council on Religion and the Homosexual. He was one the individuals arrested on Jan. 1, 1965. He and fellow lawyer Herb Donaldson represented the defendants at trial.
