This educational resource, while not comprehensive, provides original, thought-provoking teaching materials on how Black Churches and Black Activists in various religious traditions responded to the scourge of HIV in their Black communities.

This resource includes:

• a college syllabus that evaluates broad economic and racial themes in late 20th century America;
• a primary source lesson plan that augments a high school or college course and focuses on how history is documented, preserved, and retold;
• selected profiles of Black AIDS religious activists whose faith and empathy impelled their work;
• and oral history clips from Black religious leaders who broke sexual norms to spearhead religious responses to HIV/AIDS.
• A timeline provides reference for key events.
